Names to Nome Program
How does
it work? I will print the names of all my sponsors and
carry those names with me to Nome. No donation is too
small. If you want to be part of the Last Great Race on
Earth here is your chance. Just click on the Paypal link
at the top of the sponsor page (or in the right sidebar
on the home page) and donate any amount. Be sure to give
me your name, or the name of your group or organization,
as you would like me to carry it. You can also send me
a check, my mailing address is "R Northbound Dogs,
13914 Savage Dr, Eagle River, AK 99577".
If you cannot afford to donate, but still want to be part
of the program send me an email
with the title Names to Nome with the
name you want me to carry exactly as you want it listed
in the body. Say a prayer for us and we will call it even.

Halleluiah! R Northbound Dogs are going to Nome!
Literally at the last minute our new sponsor,
Curves of Eagle River, came forward and that convinced
me to take a leap of faith and enter the 2009 Iditarod.
Thank heaven for plastic money. You can read the entire
story on the December 1st post on my blog.
Now I need to raise the money to repay the plastic that
is financing the race. No donation is too small. For $30
I will enroll you in Rogers
Rangers, the official support group for R Northbound
Dogs. You will get a signed certificate whose background
is a photo of the team you are supporting, a musher card,
my undying gratitude, and the thanks of the dogs you are
helping to feed.
New this year, I will print the names of all my sponsors,
large and small, and carry those names with me to Nome.
If you want to be part of the Last Great Race on Earth
here is your chance. Just click on the Paypal link at
the top of the sponsor page (or in the right sidebar on

I am also available to talk to schools and groups in the
Anchorage area and can travel if you cover expenses (depending
on training / racing schedules). I am looking for a corporate
sponsor to pick up the costs for this service. Please
contact me if your company is interested.

"One
of the nice things about being on a learning curve is
that every year I learn a little more and get a little
better. Every year I can honestly say “This is the
best team I’ve ever driven”. Even though we
finished Iditarod in 68th, just like 2006, we shaved two
days off our finish time. Every year as the season winds
down I look at this marvelous dog team, trained and ready
with nowhere to go. A spring race, like the Taiga 300,
is a gift giving us one more chance to go play before
we shut down for the summer.
The race started at noon Tuesday (to avoid weekend traffic
on the trails) at Wolverine lodge on Lake Louise with
a 65 mile loop coming back to the Lodge. It was designed
to be run without a handler and since my faithful crew
all had day jobs I was here alone. It was a funny feeling
as I harnessed and bootied my team not to have Lexi, Leslie,
and Bonnie nearby". Read

MEET
ERIC ROGERS
|
2nd Annual Fundraiser
a success
We had our 2nd annual fund raiser at Trish and Dale
Keefe’s home Saturday the 4th. It rained all day,
but Trish and Dale have a large garage they emptied.
Between that and the covered back porch there was plenty
of room out of the rain. I had planned to take Bass,
Lycos, Throttle, and Basil (Trish’s dog) to see
how Bass, Lycos, and Throttle reacted to the crowd.
Rosemary begged to come along and I have a soft spot
for her (alright I have a soft spot for all of them
? ). I let her loose to run to the truck and the little
minx ran off down the street. I’d let Lycos loose
also and he thought Rosemary had such a good idea he
ran across the street to the neighbor who doesn’t
like loose dogs in his yard. I chased Lycos and caught
him before anyone objected, fired up the truck and chased
after Rosemary. I guess she saw me and chased after
the truck because I went to turn around to check another
street and there she was running my way. It took a little
convincing, but she came back and all was well that
ended well. Read more...
Annual FUNDRAISER
PLANNED
Dale and Trish
Keefe are holding a fund raiser for Eric Rogers on Saturday
August 4 th from noon to 5 PM. An all you can eat BBQ
for $10 donation. Eric will be there with some of his
trusty Iditarod sled dogs.
Meet the guy who broke his leg, frostbite his toe, and
signed up to do it all over again. Help send Eric to
Nome.
DIRECTIONS:
Located in Eagle River, go up Eagle River road 5.2 miles
past WalMart, turn right onto Denaina Dr at the end
of the road (T intersection) turn right onto Bendilent
Cir. They are at the end of the road at 25680 Bendilent
Cir.

2008 Iditarod Sign-up
Eric says "A
broken a leg, frostbitten toe, jammed shoulder, and broken
sled were not enough to keep me from signing up one more
time. Thanks much to Trish and Dale Keefe who helped significantly
with the entry fee or my signup would have been much later.
For an Iditarod musher, going to the picnic and not signing
up is like an alcoholic going to a bar with his friends
and not having a drink".
See you there...
